Another road trip....

This is one of my many road trips that I took during the year.

Redwood National Park & Oregon Coast 31st Mar - 1st Apr 2007

I am on another road trip after Painted Hill and this time is special because I brought my car out for the first on a road trip. However, I did not drive my own car but lent it out for friends. Anyway, we used two Mazda cars - Mazda 3 and my car Mazda 6. My friends brought my 'baby' on a speed....

This time we travelled to the Redwood National Park located at Northern California. The Redwood National Park is said to have the largest and tallest trees in the world. Below is one of the text from the website.

Redwood National Park contains the tallest living things on earth, evergreen trees that grow to 350 feet. The park was established specifically to protect these trees, because it is only here and in Oregon that they now survive. Descendants of the giant evergreens that grew during the age of the dinosaurs, redwoods thrived in moist temperate regions of the world. They take 400 years to mature and some of the survivors are more than 2,000 years old. Their thick, sapless bark protects them from fire, but landslides and wind can topple old trees. The Indians used fallen redwood trees to build canoes and houses; commercial logging began during the gold rush era. Logging of redwoods continues and is debated by the timber industry and environmentalists. The trees stand as majestic reminders of the slow evolution of nature. Redwood National and State Parks represent a cooperative management effort of the National Park Service and the California Department of Parks and Recreation. Together these parks are a World Heritage Site and International Biosphere Reserve protecting resources cherished by citizens of many nations. (Inscribed in 1980)

The park are located along the coast. Besides than looking at trees, we also take time to enjoy the view from the coast. It was pretty amazing to feel the air blowing while listening to the sound of the waves :). It reminds me of twelve Apostles in Melbourne :). God's miracle :). Here are some of the pictures taken on the first day of the trip.

On day 2, we continue our journey to explore Redwood and the drove thru Oregon Coast. We started the journey by stopping at the Trees of Mystery. I bought a couple of souvenirs from there and also took a couple of photos. Pretty amazing statue because there is a big man and a bull statue there. After that, we went to a place called Drive Thru Tree. It is a big tree that even a car can drive thru there. Oh... there is one picture showed that I drove past the big tree :). Pretty cool :)...

Then we went to another view point along the way back to Oregon. The SLRians decided to hike down on a trail leaving us Non SLRians behind in the mid of the trail. We could not see them and we started to get cold because it was windy and cold. So, we decided to hike up back to the car to keep ourselves warm. Since it was April's Fool Day (Apr 1st), I came out an idea to drive the car away. Then, my another friend Keng Lai gave a suggestion to go back to the same place where they left us. So, when we came up we just pretend that the car got stolen or went missing. They came up together with us and found the car missing. We were pretend to be shock but I started to cough badly because of the wind and start to feel dizzy because I was hungry and cold. So, the April's Fool Day trick backfired on us L...

We continue our trip to drive along the Oregon coast. There are a couple of pictures they SLRians took at several stops along Oregon Coast.
